In June, we completed our 100th development, the Prestbury Medical Practice in Wolverhampton and to celebrate the practice held an opening ceremony on Thursday, August 31.
The opening event was attended by the Mayor Dr Mike Harding and the Mayoress, members of the Patient Participation Group, members of the ICB and Wolverhampton Council, former colleagues of the practice and Prestbury Medical Centre staff.
The new £6 million facility has brought together two local surgeries with more than 14,500 patients, relocating from premises that were not fit for purpose.
As well as providing state-of-the-art, modern premises, the new medical centre boasts additional training capacity, a greater range of community and out-of-hospital services as well as incorporating a telehealth hub to support digital health care delivery.
The Prestbury Medical Centre will also benefit from our commitment to sustainability with a BREEAM “Excellent” certification and an EPC rating of “A”, achieved through the use of air source heat pumps, EV charging points and natural ventilation.
The interiors of the new build also reflect the “Designing for Everyone” toolkit we launched in 2022. The toolkit seeks to support GP practices to improve their built environments for people with disabilities and conditions such as dementia, neurodiversity and anxiety.
Sam Callow, our Development Manager said: “The opening ceremony of one of our buildings is always a special occasion for the GPs and the patients. It takes a lot of work from everyone involved to bring developments like this to completion so it is brilliant for the GPs to be able celebrate the opening of their new building which will be a big asset to the provision of Primary Care services in Prestbury.”
