We’ve announced to the City today that we have acquired the primary care property developer, Apollo.
Apollo has been operating for 20 years and has worked on standout primary care developments all over the country, with particular strength in Scotland where it was one of the founding partners of the public-private Hub West Scotland joint venture to create new health centres and other community infrastructure. It also provides development consultancy services to GPs and CCGs.
When we first joined the London Stock Exchange back in 2003, the first properties to join our portfolio had been acquired from Apollo.
More recently, we’ve been working with Apollo on our scheme to create a new medical centre in Beaconsfield in Buckinghamshire, which is just starting on site.
The acquisition adds an initial eight schemes to our pipeline with an estimated total capital expenditure of £50 million, and means we have six new expert team members working with us as the health service looks ahead to a world beyond COVID.
Our CEO, Jonathan Murphy, said: "Following our acquisition of primary care developer GPI in 2019, this is another important step in our growth story that further deepens our understanding of the future trends shaping the sector, from building design to sustainability.
"Expanding our offer to the NHS as its partner of choice has never been more vital than it is today. As Apollo's colleagues integrate into Assura, we look forward to working together to continue creating outstanding spaces for health services in our communities."
