As Rugby League World Cup 2021’s Official Community Health Partner, today (1 February 2021) we’ve opened applications for our Assura Community Fund RLWC2021 Grants Programme.
With a minimum of £100,000 activities to help charitable and voluntary sector organisations deliver health and wellbeing activities, the partnership will support the tournament’s vision of creating opportunities and delivering widespread positive social impact.
The grants will be given to health projects working from or with Rugby League community clubs, existing recipients of the RLWC2021 CreatedBy Capital Grants Programme, and within the eighteen RLWC2021 host towns and cities. Full criteria and how to apply is available via Cheshire Community Foundation at: Assura Community Fund RLWC2021 Grants Programme Criteria.
The grants will educate and teach skills to contribute to improved emotional health and wellbeing, gaining support for life challenges and providing increased activities and opportunities to improve self-confidence, self-esteem and belonging.
Online applications will open from 08:00am today (1 February 2021), with a submission deadline of 28 February 2021, and successful applicants receiving one-year grants by 15 May 2021.
The programme was launched by RLWC2021 Healthy Lives Ambassador, Lois Forsell, who said: “The Assura Community Fund RLWC2021 Grants Programme will make a huge difference to the lives of many people within Rugby League communities.
“I’d urge all appropriate charitable and voluntary sector organisations, alongside Rugby League community clubs to get involved.
“At an unbelievably trying time for the nation, this will provide opportunities for some of the most deprived communities in the country to rebuild.
“Assura has a rich history of delivering funding for transformational projects and this is another example of a purpose led partnership that will create positive social impacts.”
Our CEO, Jonathan Murphy, said: “As a business based in the Rugby League heartland of Warrington, we’re passionate about the chance to connect local health projects, volunteers and primary care in some of the most deprived communities across the country.
“The scale of the task ahead to rebuild community health beyond the current pandemic is clear, but these grants can still play a part by supporting local health projects to reduce isolation, rebuild health confidence, skills and lessen health inequalities.”
