The UK’s leading healthcare property developer and investor, Assura Group, has completed its latest development, a £2 million surgery in Y Felinheli, North Wales. The scheme is delivered in partnership with developer Amcen Cyfyngedig.
The 8,395 sq ft development provides state of the art premises for Dr McCann & Partners, along with the Local Health Board who is also taking space in the building.
The building is situated on a greenfield site overlooking the Menai Straits and is BREEAM Excellent, the second highest energy efficiency standard attainable. The surgery has incorporated measures such as rainwater harvesting and ground source heating.
The scheme is the latest addition to Assura Group’s expanding Welsh portfolio, including developments in Harlech, Gelligaer and Milford Haven.
Amanda Roddy, development manager at Assura Group, commented: “We’re very pleased to have completed yet another project in Wales and to have continued our work alongside Amcen Cyfyngedig. Operating from out of date stock is still an issue for many GP practices across the country, but the Y Felinheli Health Centre is a fantastic example of how premises can be both well-designed, efficient and fit for purpose.”
Dr Kirsty McCann, senior partner, said: “We’re delighted to see the completion of our new Health Centre. As we expand our practice within Y Felinheli the delivery of the highest quality healthcare experience is essential, and the new building will help us to achieve that.”
Mark Roberts of Amcen Cyfyngedig said: “The whole project has gone very smoothly, and it’s rewarding to see the scheme completed. It’s been great to develop our partnership with Assura Group, and we’re looking forward to starting on the next project.”
The architect on the scheme was W M Design & Architecture Ltd, with the contractors Watkin Jones.
