The UK’s leading healthcare property developer and investor, Assura Group, has started on site at its latest development, a £2 million surgery in Y Felinheli. The scheme is to be delivered in partnership with developer Amcen Cyfyngedig.

The 8,395 sq ft development will relocate Dr Jones & Partners from its current Menai Bridge Surgery, with the Local Health Board also taking space in the building. The scheme is due to complete in Spring 2013.

The building will be situated on a Greenfield site overlooking the Menai Straits and is expected to achieve a BREEAM Excellent rating, the second highest energy efficiency standard attainable. In order to achieve this, the surgery will incorporate measures such as rainwater harvesting and ground source heating.

Amanda Roddy, development manager at Assura Group, commented: “The new Y Felinheli surgery is set to be state of the art in terms of energy efficiency, with minimal impact to its surroundings. This is essential in a location of natural beauty such as the Menai Straits. The new surgery will improve the facilities that the local GPs are currently working in and most importantly, boost the offering to the local patients.”

Dr Peter Jones, of Dr Jones & Partners said: “We are delighted that the development has started on site. The new surgery will be an asset to the local community and will enable us to provide a higher quality of service for patients in the area.”

Mark Roberts of Amcen Cyfyngedig said: “We’re looking forward to working in partnership with Assura Group to produce a cutting-edge healthcare facility for the people of Y Felinheli. The GPs at the surgery have been working towards this for some time, so its great to finally start on site with the project.”

The architect on the scheme is W M Design & Architecture Ltd, with the contractors Watkin Jones.
