Assura Completes £2.5M Medical Centre
22 Oct 2013

Assura Group, the UK’s leading healthcare property developer and investor, has completed its latest project, a £2.5m medical centre in Willington, Derbyshire.

The 13,000 sq ft building, which was delivered in partnership with LSP Developments, incorporates a state of the art GP practice and an independent pharmacy.

The new medical centre features extensive sustainable energy measures and is expected to gain a BREEAM rating of Very Good.

Assura has enjoyed healthy growth during the past year, with a number of projects developed in the Midlands. Projects undertaken include Victoria Park Health Centre in Leicester, Brierley Park Medical Centre in Huthwaite and the redevelopment of the Church Hill Neighbourhood Centre in Redditch.

Amanda Roddy, development manager at Assura Group, said: “This year has seen a succession of excellent projects in the Midlands, with an increase in our integrated health centres undergoing construction in the region. The new building will ensure the highest possible standard of care in the area and give a greater range of facilities to the local patients.”

Ed Sutton, managing director at LSP Developments, commented: “The project is testament to the partnership formed between the key stakeholders, not least Assura, the GPs and NHS Derbyshire. The support gained from the Local Authority and the community has been invaluable in delivering this much needed project, which will help extend the primary care service in the community for many years to come.”

Dr. Farrell, GP at the Willington Medical Centre, continued: “The new medical centre will safeguard the provision of good quality services for local patients over the next 20 years. It provides modern facilities and a calm, friendly environment for patients, which is essential in this current climate. It’s also been great to see the project receive so much support, we hope that everyone will be as pleased with the finished result as we are.”

West Hart Partnership is the architect on the scheme.
