Healthcare property developer and investor Assura Group has officially completed its latest development, on the £3.8m Chapel House Care Centre in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne.
Representatives from Assura Group joined staff and community leaders at the opening of the 16,145 sq ft. development, which provides state of the art facilities, combining established GP practices Parkway and Holmside, both from Frenton Close. In addition to the two GP surgeries, the scheme now includes a Lloyds pharmacy and an additional 1,500 sq ft. of community space available to rent.
The development has been a long time coming for the GPs, developers and community leaders involved. The project was finally able to get underway through the purchase of readily available local land to build the extended medical centre. The final result is a sustainable property, which has been built to the environmental BREEAM Excellent standard, that will provide primary care services to the local area for years to come.
Amanda Roddy, development manager at Assura Group, said: “We’re pleased to see Chapel House open its doors this week, as it provides high quality, convenient, integrated primary care premises for patients in the local area. The creation of multi-purpose, streamlined services not only benefit both the practice’s staff and the wider community, but will also help to alleviate pressure on the NHS.”
Dr Andrew Price – Senior Partner, Holmside Medical Group, said: “The new premises are even better than wonderful, and they make being at work a pleasure. Everyone feels better – even the patients it seems!”
The development was delivered in partnership with Ashley House PLC and Galliford Try.
