The UK’s leading healthcare property developer and investor, Assura Group, has celebrated the completion of its latest Merseyside scheme, a £3million medical centre on Brackenwood Road, Bebington. The new surgery was delivered in partnership with LSP Developments.
The Mayor of Wirral, David Mitchell, officially opened the surgery at an event on the 14th June. Other attendees celebrating the opening included Alison McGovern, MP for South Wirral, Bebington Councillors Gerry Williams, Christina Muspratt and Walter Smith, plus representatives from Assura Group.
The 14,350 sq ft centre now houses two GP practices, Kings Lane Medical Practice and Church Road Medical Practice. The state-of-the-art building provides a range of modern, fit for purpose medical facilities, including a minor surgery suite and rooms for GP, nurse and counselling consultations. A branch of Averroes Pharmacy is also operating from the site.
Bebington is the latest in a series of completions for Assura Group, including premises in Maidstone and Huthwaite. Projects are also underway in Harlech, Y Felinheli and Leicester, with a strong pipeline for the rest of 2013.
Amanda Roddy, development manager at Assura Group, said: “Moving two GP surgeries into one building makes vital medical services more accessible for patients in the local community. Our focus is on creating top of the range facilities for GPs, that are fit for the purpose of delivering primary care in the 21st century. The Bebington medical centre certainly fulfills that goal.”
Phil Lilley, director at LSP Developments, commented: “We’re very pleased to have completed yet another successful project in partnership with Assura Group, and are looking forward to embarking on our next venture.”
Dr Kershaw, GP at the medical centre, continued: “We are delighted with the new health centre and the fact that we can now offer patients a more comprehensive healthcare service in their local area.
“It was great to have the health centre officially opened by the Mayor. The ceremony went really well and the whole evening was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone who attended. A tremendous amount of work has gone into the planning and execution of this project, and we are extremely pleased with the final result.”
Architect practice West Hart Partnership designed the scheme, with W. H. Snow appointed as contractors.
