Building for the future in Stourport
18 Jun 2020

Construction work on a new medical centre for Stourport in Worcestershire is due to start in July – supported by our funding. The medical centre, which is being built for Wyre Forest Health Partnership (WFHP), expects to welcome its first patients in autumn next year.

The state-of-the-art facility will combine two practices for a single Primary Care Network and super-partnership which will support more than 73,000 patients. The building gives staff room to provide services for which they currently don't have the space. The building will be 1,950 sqm and includes a pharmacy and 73 car parking spaces.

We have previously worked with WFHP to create fit-for-purpose buildings for Bewdley and Kidderminster medical centres, and this is another of our schemes to be funded in tandem with a grant from NHS England’s Estates and Technology Transformation Fund (ETTF).

Jon Webb, Senior Development Manager said: “Infrastructure has a key role to play in the economic recovery from COVID and to see vital NHS schemes like this moving forward in such difficult times is so encouraging, not just for the modern facilities it will create for patients and staff, but also for local jobs and the supply chain. We are especially pleased to further grow our relationships with gbpartnerships and Wyre Forest Health Partnership.”

The project will be led by developer gbpartnerships and delivered by A.M. Griffiths, the contractor which is also working on our Bournville development. The scheme has been designed by our architect partners West Hart Partnership.

Ian Tuddenham, Development Director at gbpartnerships said: “I’m extremely pleased to see this important facility commencing on site, it has taken a lot of hard work to find and secure a site and bring forward the project with a backdrop of tight NHS timescales. Team working between gbp, WFHP and Assura will result in a fantastic modern facility for patients and staff of Stourport.”
