Chance to view new GP building plans in Notts
02 Feb 2018

Plans for a new medical centre and pharmacy in Nottinghamshire are to go on display.

The designs, being put forward by Trentside Medical Group, would see a state-of-the-art primary care building being built on a former primary school site near Netherfield town centre to offer the practice more space to care for its growing list of more than 11,700 patients.

The new building – less than half a mile from the current medical centre - would incorporate a pharmacy, more consulting and treatment rooms, light and airy waiting and welcome areas and accessible parking. The project would mean the GPs have the layout to care for many more patients, as well as to offer other clinical services and clinics under the same roof.

Planning permission has been in place for a medical centre on the proposed site since 2015, but the GPs are preparing to seek approval for the updated scheme. Plans and pictures will be on display on Thursday, 8 February from 3-8pm at St George’s Centre, 91 Victoria Road, Netherfield, NG4 2NN, with the opportunity to discuss with the GPs and with Assura, as the developer.

Dr Caitriona Kennedy, GP and partner at Trentside Medical Group, says: “As a result of the increasing numbers of patients attending the practice, we are finding that our current premises are approaching capacity.

“Since we closed the Colwick branch of our business, we have been progressing plans to move into a new build premises planned for Meadow Road in Netherfield.

“This is still very much in the planning stages and we’d like to invite our patients to drop in to St George’s on Thursday 8 February to look at our plans and talk to representatives from the Practice.”

Our Senior Development Manager, Andrew Cooper, says: “With more patients using this surgery and with significant new housing growth expected to continue, the GPs need a building which can offer them flexibility and more space for the future – especially given the NHS’ strong focus on delivering a bigger range of services closer to home.”

Subject to planning permission, the new medical centre would be set for completion by the end of 2019.
