An official opening for our new building in Stow took place over Christmas with an event for staff and patients.

The surgery was formally opened by Countryfile presenter, Adam Henson, followed by mince pies, mulled wine and carols around their Christmas tree.

Visitors also had the opportunity to see the new surgery, which is made of Cotswold Stone, matching the building to its surroundings. The development has brought additional space to the practice including seven GP consulting rooms, four nurse consulting rooms, phlebotomy rooms and a minor operation suite. The environmentally friendly building has been constructed with structural insulated panels (SIPs), a ground source heat pump and an array of solar panels, all of which reduce energy consumption.

Paul Sherringham, Doctor at Stow Surgery, said: “The practice team and I are extremely grateful to Assura for stepping into the breech, making the project a viable reality and realising a long held dream for the surgery and its community of patients.”

Sophie Williams, Practice Manager at Stow Surgery, said: “It’s been fantastic to show off our new surgery and celebrate the hard work it’s taken to create this outstanding building in such a festive way. We can’t wait to see the impact the new environment makes to staff and patients.”

Ashley Seymour, Senior Development Manager said: “We are delighted to be celebrating this milestone with staff and patients and very much look forward to seeing the positive impact the development has in the community over the coming years.”
