Derbyshire practice settles into new home
16 Nov 2017

A Derbyshire GP surgery has crossed the road to offer patients first-class care from purpose-built brand new premises.

Woodville Surgery is now operating from a modern, purpose-built space opposite the former surgery in Burton Road, following our year-long build on the site of a former car garage.

Dean and Smedley Pharmacy is also open in the building to work from the same site as the practice GPs, who care for more than 9,000 patients.

The new surgery building was funded by us and delivered by LSP Developments. The new building creates almost 1,000m2 of space for the surgery and pharmacy as well as a range of consulting, treatment and training rooms, as part of a project which was supported by NHS England. The project was also awarded more than £175,000 in section 106 funding from local building development, following a bid from NHS Southern Derbyshire Clinical Commissioning Group in collaboration with South Derbyshire District Council.

Dr Sri Tirugulla, GP Partner at Woodville Surgery said: “Our new surgery provides excellent care and facilities for patients, staff and visitors.

“It’s a purpose-built space made for modern healthcare and provides a work environment our staff can be proud of.

“We’re delighted to be welcoming patients to our new-look surgery.”

Rob Hill, Senior Primary Care Commissioning Manager for NHS Southern Derbyshire Clinical Commissioning Group, said: “We work closely with other parts of the NHS and local authorities to make sure any new planning submissions have their potential health impact calculated so we can bid for appropriate funding to support local services appropriately.

“We’re delighted to have been involved in this project to help support the practice in making further improvements to Woodville Surgery for patients and clinical staff, to continuously improve the health and wellbeing of local people.”

Our Senior Development Manager, Simon Gould, says: “The Woodville GPs have worked tirelessly to reach this milestone of finally having the modern space that they need for their work, now and in the future.

“We’re delighted to have been able to make this building a reality and look forward to working with the practice in the years to come.”
