Making space at Grimsby medical centre
19 Sep 2017

Mental health services for children and young people in North East Lincolnshire now have more space to support patients - after our fit-out at a Grimsby medical centre.

North East Lincolnshire’s Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS), which is based at Freshney Green Primary Care Centre on Sorrel Road, now has extra room for its services after leasing more space in the building.

As the building owners, we’ve worked with the CAMHS service – which includes nurses, occupational therapists, social workers, clinical psychologists, consultant psychiatrists – on the fit-out of their extra space, which will be used for consultation and administration work.

Dr Tracey Urquhart, Service Manager for CAMHS, says: “Offering the right services for children when they are young is vital in reducing the number of people who suffer with mental health problems in adult life. By providing quality mental health service in the crucial childhood and teenage years, we can help young people to achieve their full potential and enjoy their life to the full. Thanks to expanded space, we will be able to offer more groups for young people struggling with anxiety and depression and teach them coping skills to help them stay well. We will also use the additional space for some family work.”

The service looks after children and young people suffering with conditions such as anxiety, depression, trauma, eating disorders and self-harm.

Russell Hall, our Portfolio Manager for Freshney Green, says: “A big focus for us is making sure our primary care buildings have expansion space to allow services to grow and change, as well as the flexibility to make the space work for lots of different healthcare services at any one time. We’re delighted that we’ve been able to help CAMHS find the space it needs to support even more young patients.”
