New Porthcawl medical centre marks a milestone
05 Feb 2018

Building work on a long-awaited new primary care centre for Porthcawl is officially underway, after a turf-cutting ceremony to mark the start of construction.

The new premises for Portway Surgery - which serves more than 16,000 patients - will include a pharmacy, more than 20 consulting rooms, six treatment rooms and space for minor operations and other community health services as well as a car park, drop off area and ambulance bay.

The new centre – commissioned by the GPs and Abertawe Bro Morgannwg University Health Board, funded by Assura, delivered by LSP and designed by West Hart Partnership – is scheduled to open to patients next spring.

Simon Gould, our Head of Development, says: “It’s been a very long road to get here so it’s fantastic to reach this milestone. Having state of the art facilities to be treated in and to work from makes a huge difference to both NHS patients and staff.”
