Lawrence House Medical Centre in Scarborough has seen extensive refurbishment works completed and now has more clinical space and higher quality waiting areas for staff and patients.
The Haxby Medical Group needed improvements made to their building to be able to cope. The three-storey medical centre was built in 2004 but recently the local population rise has caused an increased demand on services.
The refurbishment has brought six new clinical rooms into the medical centre as well as more spacious waiting areas for patients.
Dr Sally Brown from Haxby Medical Group said: “We love this building and its fantastic to see the improvements that the renovations has made. It’s a much nicer environment for our staff and a more welcoming place for our patients.”
The improvement works also include the installation of new LED lighting which will reduce maintenance costs for the practice and make the building more energy efficient as well as improve the Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) of the building.
The project was carried out during strict Covid restrictions and lockdowns which did provide some challenges along the way.
Phil Hume, our Asset Manager, said: “We are really proud of our work on this project, it’s a fantastic building and the refurbishments will help bring it to its full potential. It is brilliant to see this reach completion especially after all the challenges that Covid presented us with. It has taken a lot of work but the result is more than worth the wait and the building is now a much better working environment for staff and a better place for patients to visit.”
