Supporting mental health for young people in Warrington
23 Sep 2019

We’ve teamed up with a North West charity to help young people with mental health issues.

Our staff voted to support MedEquip4Kids to provide vital resources for the Warrington Children and Adolescent Mental Health Service, which looks after some of the most vulnerable and distressed 14-18 year olds in Warrington.

The unit needed books and resources including stress toys, games, mood cards to help young people with emotions and communication, and diagnostic kits to help staff provide support to families.

Ghazala Baig, Chief Executive of MedEquip4Kids, said: “We are very grateful to Assura for funding our project with the Warrington CAMHS Team. The resources will help staff deliver the best possible care to young people needing urgent support with their mental health and wellbeing. Thanks to all the staff who voted for our project.”

Around one in ten children aged between one and 15 has a mental health disorder. These include conditions such as autism and Asperger’s, ADHD, depression, eating disorders, self harm, attachment disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, abuse, and many more.

Our CEO, Jonathan Murphy, said: “Understanding the difference that these books, games and diagnostic kits can make for young people and their families at hugely difficult times is very sobering and our team were keen to help.”
