We are delighted to announce the new Newtown Medical Centre has moved a step closer to completion after reaching the highest point of construction.

The ultra-energy-efficient building – which will also include an on-site pharmacy and enhanced treatment room to serve more than 11,000 local patients - has ‘topped out’ thanks to construction teams pressing ahead.

Ashley Seymour, our Senior Development Manager, said: “The ‘topping out’ process is an important milestone in any development and it’s brilliant that we have been able to make such good progress with this build despite the current global climate. We hope the community are as excited for the new medical centre as we are to see the building moving along so strongly.”

The new premises will sit just 200 yards from Newtown Medical Centre’s existing building and will include four treatment rooms, 11 consulting rooms, training and waiting areas.

GP partner, Dr Samar Mukherjee from Newtown Medical Centre said: “The new building exterior looks fantastic and I can’t wait to move our practice there. The staff and I are excited to work from a new modern environment and we know it will cater to the needs of our community and we are all looking forward to welcoming our patients to our new surgery.”

The £3.5million medical centre and pharmacy is being built by Midas Construction, part of the Midas Group.

Andy Moore, Senior Project manager for Midas Construction, said: “We are very pleased to be celebrating this milestone and to have been able to achieve this through working so effectively with our customer, the entire site team and our supply chain. It is a great source of pride to us to be part of bringing forward such an important facility for the local community, especially at this time and we look forward to pressing ahead with the next phase of work on site.”
