Updated space for patients in Scarborough
11 Nov 2020

Patients at a Scarborough medical centre have a new-look building for their care – after our works to improve the premises.

Building work to reconfigure the space at Eastfield Medical Centre launched in January, and has created six new clinical areas and a more welcoming waiting space.

Contractors Hobson and Porter worked with us to bring four new consulting rooms and two new treatment rooms to the second floor of the building, upgrades to two treatment rooms on the first floor and a reconfiguration of the waiting area on the ground floor.

The first floor of the medical centre currently houses space for midwives, district nurses and health visitors. There is also a multi-purpose room on the first floor which will be reconfigured to house phlebotomy services.

Michelle Frankish, Practice Manager, said: " As our list size is continuing to grow due to the various extensive housing developments that are taking place in the area, the expansion of our premises will ensure future continuous service provision for our patients."

Paul Warwick, our Senior Project Manager, said: “One of the most important parts of our work is when we can help existing surgery buildings to create more space – opening up areas for new patient services and improving the workplace for staff. With the pressures of the pandemic it’s even more crucial than ever that primary care teams have the space which works for them.”
