The brand new state-of-the-art Mountain View Centre in Mayhill will give residents access to expanded children and family services, top class health care as well as courses and activities that will make a real difference to their lives.
It replaces the old and outdated family centre on Mayhill Road and is the new home for the Mayhill GP surgery.
Welsh Government Minister for Housing and Regeneration Rebecca Evans officially opened the complex and met some of the people who will benefit. She said: “This is a fantastic centre, providing a whole range of services for the local community. Mountain View Health Centre is a great example of how good collaboration can improve services for the people who use them.”
The complex is a partnership between Swansea Council and Abertawe Bro Morgannwg University (ABMU) Health Board, Assura as major funder and the building’s owner, and developer Ashley House.
The Welsh Government has contributed £567k to help deliver the family centre element of the project which will include an expanded range of services including parent and toddler groups, after-school clubs, healthy eating and nutrition courses and holiday play schemes.
The impressive new building will also be home to Mayhill Pharmacy while Citizens Advice Bureau and Women’s Aid will be running services from the centre. It will also be a base for handyman and other outreach services as well as a foodbank.
Our senior development manager, Andy Cooper, says: “Creating beautiful spaces to allow services to come together like this is one of the most exciting parts of our work. We very much look forward to working with everyone using the building in the years to come.”
ABMU Chairman, Professor Andrew Davies, said: “Through the collaborative efforts of the health board and local authority we have introduced a new way of providing services by bringing them together in a state-of-the-art community hub.”
Antony Walters, Chief Executive, of Ashley House plc said: “Ashley House is delighted to have delivered a fully integrated, innovative health and children’s centre at Mountain View. We have been pleased to work in partnership with the key parties including R&M Williams who have constructed this much needed complex.”
