Wantage event planned to boost health and fitness
30 Jul 2019

An Oxfordshire event to help local people to get healthy and stay healthy has won a share of our funding after being nominated by local GPs.

The Church Street and Newbury Street practices at Wantage Health Centre submitted their plans for an event by the patient participation groups of both surgeries. The day will bring together community health care services along with groups for support with conditions such as diabetes and stroke.  Patients will be able to try activities such as basic life support skills, hear from first responders and have a go at taster sessions in singing and group walks.

In its nomination, the practice told us: “The health centre is at the heart of our local community healthcare provision and it’s important to take opportunities to organise events with other local providers, charities, support groups and emergency services – making sure patients know what’s available to them by bringing together like-minded people.”
