£100 raised for dementia specialist nurses
On 6th March 2020 we baked until we dropped for Dementia UK’s biggest fundraiser, Time for a Cuppa. We raised £100 for more families in the UK to get the emotional and practical lifeline of a dementia specialist Admiral Nurse.
Admiral Nurses provide the specialist dementia support that families need. When things get challenging or difficult, they work alongside families affected by dementia, giving them the compassionate one-to-one support, expert guidance and practical solutions to help them face dementia with more confidence and less fear.
We held a Time for a Cuppa event at our office in Stockton Heath, where we decorated our own cupcakes for the event.
Our Head of Public Affairs, Claire Rick said: “We’ve been a corporate partner to Dementia UK for the last two years now and Time for a Cuppa is always a lovely way to raise extra funds and have a bit of fun together at the same time. Most importantly, every penny will help more families access the vital support of an Admiral Nurse.”
Dr Hilda Hayo, Chief Admiral Nurse and CEO at Dementia UK, said: “Dementia can be so emotionally and practically challenging for families which is why the expertise of an Admiral Nurse is vital. These invaluable funds will help us reach our aim of being there for every family who needs us.”
Dementia UK currently has 279 Admiral Nurses working across various care settings, including out in the community, care homes, hospitals and hospices. The charity also has its Admiral Nurse Dementia Helpline which is available to anyone with any questions around dementia via phone or email. There are currently not enough Admiral Nurses for the growing number of people with dementia.
