Celebrating 20 years in business

We celebrated our 20th anniversary on Tuesday 21st November..

We have had a momentous 2023, launching our Net Zero Carbon Design Guide and relocating to a new office in Altrincham, Trafford, Greater Manchester.

In July we completed our 100th project, a brand new, BREEAM ‘Excellent’ GP surgery in Bushbury, Wolverhampton. Our 101st scheme – a new day-case unit and diagnostic centre for Ramsay Health Care in Kettering - has also since completed.

Jonathan Murphy, our CEO, said: “At Assura we BUILD for health, and that wouldn’t be possible without the support of our entire team, our investors, our partners, our customers and our suppliers. It’s a privilege to be at the helm of our organisation as we enter this benchmark year.

“We’ve reached some key milestones over the past two decades, not least our recent move to a new office in Altrincham and the completion of our landmark asset enhancement in Wantage, a scheme that has been in the pipeline for many of our 20 years. As we look ahead to the next decade, I am excited to see how we continue to build on our fantastic work so far and how we strive for excellence in every department.”

At Wantage, Oxfordshire, we have completed our largest-ever asset enhancement and extension boosting its energy performance to a BREEAM rating of Very Good. The area served by Wantage Health Centre is seeing a significant growth in population and more than 4,000 homes are set to be built by 2030.

The works at Wantage will allow for more clinical space for the practices on site, a new unit for the pharmacy, and improvements to make the building more energy efficient. A total of 17 bird and habitat boxes have been fitted around the site to encourage biodiversity and wildlife.

Martin Dawson, our project manager, said: “Wantage represents the best of Assura’s work. We have been able to incorporate insights from our previous projects to create a modern, efficient health centre.

“It will be fantastic to see the community making full use of the new facility and embracing the changes we’ve been able to facilitate here.”

Julie Bridle, practice manager for Church Street Practice in Wantage, said: “As a practice and a PCN we’ve been really excited for the works to finish, it’s been a long 18 months but having the extra space and facilities available for the patients is very exciting for us.

“The community has been waiting for this for some time as well, we are all absolutely delighted with works that have been done. Staff will have a wider availability of rooms to be used, patients will have a much better experience when visiting the practice, there will be more information available to them as well as being more accessible.”
