Our Assura Community Fund was launched in 2020 and supports health-improving projects in the communities around your buildings.
It’s already committed more than £1.8m to charities and organisations working to support primary care and social prescribing across the UK.
The fund is managed for us by the lovely people at Cheshire Community Foundation, registered charity number 1143711.
“We’ve got lots of young people involved and different groups including dance groups, karate and groups for children with disabilities. Because it’s a high deprivation area, it means families of these children have access to these wonderful activities at a much more affordable cost.”
“The addition of a Men’s Shed is a tremendous asset to this community as a holistic signposting route for all professionals, with the added potential benefit of reducing GP visits over time.”
“Social influences are a real driver for health and wellbeing and we have strong links with a range of organisations keen to come together to create a community café space which can promote these. This funding allows us to get this innovation started for our patients.”
"The allotment will help the community in many ways. From increased independence, confidence, and self-reliance to being part of a helpful and welcoming community which helps to combat isolation. It’ll give patients the opportunity to achieve better health, physical fitness and of course the highlight is being able to share organic locally grown food. We look forward to working with the practice and increasing community spirit."
“It provides a safe and positive space for volunteers to get some relief from their stresses and worries. It is often noticeable that people are chattier and more positive by the end of a session. It also helps that you are rewarded with fresh vegetables to take home!”
“The children of Porthcawl Primary loved being involved in the new surgery project. They worked with the community to decide what should go into the time capsule. They felt really privileged to be amongst the first people to explore the surgery and were very impressed with the build. Thank you for this amazing opportunity.”
“This grant will help us support BAME parents of children with additional support needs so that they feel more able to cope, have access to better living standards through income maximisation, are more confident in parenting, have more choices about their lives, are better informed about services and resources and report feeling less isolated.”
